Day-by-day itinerary
DAY 1: HARIDWAR / DEHRADUN ARRIVAL – LOCAL SIGHTSEEING
- Arrive at Haridwar Railway Station or Dehradun Airport.
- Check-in to the hotel and relax.
- Visit Mansa Devi Temple and Chandi Devi Temple via cable car (optional).
- In the evening, witness the divine Ganga Aarti at Har Ki Pauri on the banks of River Ganga.
Dinner and overnight stay at Haridwar.
DAY 2: HARIDWAR – SONPRAYAG (APPROX. 250 KM / 8–9 HRS DRIVE)
- After early breakfast, drive to Guptkashi, a scenic town on the Mandakini River.
- En route visit the confluence of Alaknanda and Bhagirathi Rivers at Devprayag — the point where the Ganga originates and Raghunath Temple.
- Arrive at Guptkashi by evening.
- Visit Ardh Narishwar Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati.
Overnight stay in Sonprayag.
DAY 3: SONPRAYAG – KEDARNATH (16 KM WALK)
- Early morning, proceed to Gaurikund (6 km). From Sonprayag take a local jeep to Gaurikund (6 km) — the starting point of the Kedarnath trek.
- Visit Mundkatiya Ganesh and Tapt Kund.
- Begin the 16 km trek to Kedarnath Temple (can hire pony/doli).
Optional: Helicopter ride from Phata / Sersi / Guptkashi (advance booking through government website https://www.heliyatra.irctc.co.in/). - On arrival at Kedarnath check into your good basic room.
- Visit the Kedarnath Temple for evening Aarti and darshan of Kedarnath.
- Visit Shankaracharya Samadhi.
Overnight stay in Kedarnath (basic accommodation).
DAY 4: KEDARNATH – GUPTKASHI (16 KM WALK + 30 KM DRIVE)
- Early morning darshan at Kedarnath Temple.
- Visit Bhairo Baba.
- After breakfast, start the trek back to Gaurikund.
- Drive back to Guptkashi for an overnight stay.
Overnight stay after a divine and fulfilling day.
DAY 5: GUPTKASHI – RISHIKESH DEPARTURE (APPROX. 220 KM / 8 HRS)
- After breakfast, proceed towards Rishikesh.
- On arrival, visit:
- Laxman Jhula, Ram Jhula, and Triveni Ghat
- Attend Evening Ganga Aarti at Triveni Ghat (if time permits)
- Drop at Rishikesh / Haridwar Railway Station or Dehradun Airport for onward journey.
- Tour ends with divine blessings of Lord Kedarnath!
