Story of Baidyanath Jyotirlinga Temple
Ravana the king of Lanka worshipped Lord Shiva with intense devotion. God Shiva pleased with his worship. So, Shiva appears, then Ravana expresses his desire to take him to Lanka. So, God Shiva granted him a lingam with the condition that it should not be placed on the ground. If it will place on ground then it will be established there for forever. Ravana agreed on that. While going to Lanka, in this Deodhar area he feels to urinate. Then he was searching someone who can hold the shiv lingam. He finds a boy with his cows and ask him to help. Boy agreed and informed him that he can hold him. After several hours Ravana competed urination and come. By that time the boy has left the place and Shiv lingam was places on Ground. Ravana tried to lift it but not able to do that. From that time this lingam is worshiped here as Baidyanath Jyotirlinga.
Best Time to Visit
The best time to visit Baidyanath Temple is from September to March. The winter months month has pleasant weather for sightseeing. The Shravan Mela is very crowded. Generally, Shravan month fall in July-August.
