The two together form the Nanda Devi Biosphere Reserve, together with Nanda Devi National Park. This picturesque beauty is one of its kind, with a variety of flora and fauna. It was also added to UNESCO’s list of World Heritage Sites in 2005. Initially known as Bhyundar Valley, the British mountaineer Frank S Smythe changed its name to Valley of Flowers in the year 1931.
