Valley of flowers national park

Laying down in the himalayan region, the Uttarakhand Valley of Flowers is a lively and beautiful national park renowned for its alpine flowers meadows. The two together form the Nanda Devi Biosphere Reserve, together with Nanda Devi National Park. This picturesque beauty is one of its kind, with a variety of flora and fauna. It was also added to UNESCO’s list of World Heritage Sites in 2005. Initially known as Bhyundar Valley, the British mountaineer Frank S Smythe changed its name to Valley of Flowers in the year 1931.

Located high in the Garhwal region’s lofty Himalayas, this enchanting valley is also known as the place from which Hanuman gathered Sanjeevani Buti to cure Lakshmana. Trek to Flowers Valley is already popular among adventure freaks. Besides that, the place offers wonderful sightseeing of some nearby places which are hard to miss on the flowers valley journey.

The green pastures, majestic mountains and flowing streams attract millions of visitors from all over the world each year. Situated in the transition zone between the Eastern and Western Himalayan flora, this portion of the Himalayas comprises seven species of birds of restricted range. Indeed, the trek to the flowers valley is one to remember for it is lined with wild rose bushes, perfumed wildflowers and wild strawberries. It is a must-visit place for all those who love serenity, in combination with the beauty of nature.
