Thamel

Thamel has been, and continues to be, one of Kathmandu City of Nepal’s most famous and crowded commercial hubs. Whether cultural monuments or pubs, cosy restaurants or wonderful temples, Thamel’s narrow alleys have in more than four decades never failed to serve the country’s tourism industry. Whether you’re looking for good food or clothes, new music albums or trekking gear in the hunt, Thamel ‘s street shops have you covered. The whole region is a wi-fi-zone.

The maze of streets which make up Thamel, formerly known as Tabitha Bahal, is home to numerous stalls lined up one after the other. While the ‘touristy’ tag has triggered price rises, the goods sold here are one of a kind. The numerous travel agencies which line the street are particularly convenient for visitors who come for the first time to explore this area. Along with countless people walking down the road, cars, including cycle rickshaws, taxis, bicycles, and two-wheelers, can not be found anywhere. Thamel also houses several restaurants serving delicious and varied cuisine, which will surely attract any food connoisseur to it.

Thamel is a famous tourist area in Kathmandu that is well-connected to the city’s major routes. It takes around 20 minutes to reach Thamel from Tribhuvan International Airport.
