Taj mahotsav

Taj Mahotsav in Agra is a 10-day festival that runs from 18th to 27th February each year. This 10-day festival is a platform showcasing India’s diverse art, culture, cuisines, dance and music, particularly Uttar Pradesh. The Taj Mahotsav festival is held in Shilp Gram, close to Taj Mahal’s eastern gate. Shilp Gram is a craft village spread over an approximate 11 acre area. Shilp Gram’s distance to Taj Mahal’s eastern gate is about 500 metres.

The festival was launched in 1992 by UP Tourism and is organized annually since then. The series takes on a different theme each year. The theme for the year 2019, for example, was “UK” (tradition). The Taj Mahotsav festival starts with a grand procession on the road which is an attempt to imitate the Mughal period society. The procession consists of painted elephants and camels, drum beaters, folk artists, and artisans.

India is a country which is diverse. Different forms of classical and folk music and dances occur in different parts of India. The festival organizes shows where different styles of music and dances can be witnessed. For a music lover, the Taj Mahotsav festival provides an excellent opportunity for folk and classical music to listen to and appreciate various genres.

So happens Taj Mahotsav is also a food festival. There’s a part of the festival area reserved for kitchen stalls. This part of festival includes the popular food varieties from all Indian states. It features a wide number of dishes to satisfy a food lover’s taste buds.

Taj Mahotsav is an exciting fair for adults and children alike. It is definitely an attraction for the kids. When adults discover the world, children will have fun here, enjoying different types of rides and swings. Adults can also indulge in fun fairs along with the kids.

Entry Fee: Indians adults Rs.50, Child below 5 Yrs & foreigner tourist are free of charge.

Timings: From 10 AM to 8 PM.
