The Rumtek Monastery is one of the largest and most important monasteries in Sikkim, situated in Rumtek, 23 km away from the town of Gangtok and in the opposite mountain. This monastery was founded on the 16th Karmapa. The head of the monastery is Karmapa. If you move to the top of the Monastery; you can have a stunning view of the entire town of Gangtok, right across the hill. In addition, the architecture of the stunning monastery is one of the finest in the world. Behind the wall of the Rumtek Monastery is a path that leads to the beautiful Golden Stupa. The fee for admission is Rs. 10/-per person. Rumtek Monastery is open every day from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
