Jagmandir palace

Jagmandir Palace

Jag Mandir Palace is a magnificent palace situated at Udaipur, Rajasthan, on the southern island of Lake Pichola. The palace is a three story building built of marble and yellow sandstone. It would be a pleasure to see eight life-sized elephants carved out of pure white marble which appears to guard the palace. It was completed by Maharana Jagat Singh in the early years of the 17th century. Construction was initiated by Maharana Amar Singh in 1551 and continued by Maharana Karan Singh where it was used as Shah Jahan’s hiding place and finally completed by Maharana Jagat Singh.

Some of the most famous places to visit on the road to this palace are Gul Mahal, where Shah Jahn lived with his family. This place is rendered in Islamic architectural style. A mosque had been built here to serve Shah Jahan’s religious needs. Jag Mandir Palace also features rose gardens, jasmine flowers, palm plants, frangipani plants, and bougainvillaea. The palace currently consists of a restaurant named ‘Darikhana’ which serves Rajasthani lip-smacking food. Also, you can check out the museum where the place’s past was held.
