Do drul chorten

Do Drul Chorten

Do Drul Chorten is one of the most popular stupas in Sikkim, nestled in the beautiful Gangtok valleys. The deity at the top of the chorten stupa is known as Dorjee Phurpa or Vajra Kilaya. The stupa is surrounded by 108 prayer wheels, all of which have mantras written in Tibetan. If you spin the prayer wheels, do it clockwise. Inside the Chorten Stupa are Kanjur’s holy books, relics, complete mantras and several other religious objects. The stupa is surrounded by Chorten Lakhang, which houses two huge statues of Guru Padmasambhava. This is a quaint little place for people looking for consolation in the hill town.
