Chamba is the state’s northernmost district, nestled at the confluence point of the Dhauladhar and Zanskar Mountain Ranges. Popularly voted as Himachal Pradesh’s most scenic area, this region borders southern Jammu and Cashmir. The lovely little valley, full of its natural wonders, is filled with a variety of alpine forests, fast-flowing rivers, sparkling lakes and streams, vast open meadows and abundant wildlife. The valley remains snow-capped during winters, offering a glimpse of intense ethereal beauty.
However, apart from its natural beauty, Chamba also boasts a magnificent cultural heritage. Its huge stone-carved temples, like the Chamunda Devi Temple or the Laxmi Narayan Temple, give tourists an architectural treat. A talent depicted by the architectural wonders of Chamba, sheer craftsmanship is something to marvel at. At the Bhuri Singh Museum, which also houses a fine collection of ancient Himachali artefacts, you can see the beautiful miniature paintings that form an important part of the state’s history. Chamba is one of the year-round destinations in Himachal Pradesh because of its relatively mild climate. The temperature stays fairly constant in the summer months between March and June, and can even rise to as much as 35 degrees Celsius.
