Chandratal lake

Chandratal lake is a crescent-shaped basin, called the Moon Lake, surrounded on all sides by the gigantic Himalayan Mountains. The lake is located in the Himachal Pradesh district of Spiti, at an elevation of 14100 ft. The lake used to be the resting place for traders and travelers who used to come from Tibet or Ladakh. The Chandertal Lake is only accessible in the summer months i.e. June, July, August and September and the lake stays frozen for the rest of the year.
