Hidimba Devi Temple

Hidimba Devi Temple is an ancient cave temple dedicated to Hidimba Devi who was Bheem’s wife, one of the Pandavas. Located in the middle of dense forest Called Dhungri Van Vihar and only the temple determines its name from the name of the town. Hidimba Devi Temple, which was built in 1553 by Raja Bahadur Singh, is among the top places to visit in Manali.

The Hidimba Devi temple is 24 meters tall and comprises of three square roofs with timber tiles, surmounted by a fourth brass-covered cone-shaped roof. The temple’s wooden exterior and windows are richly sculpted. The wooden door frame is decorated with carvings of different deities and other designs. The temple’s interior is covered by broad rock, so there is no usable room except for the ground floor. The temple is also known in memory of Raja Bahadur Singh for a fair held every year in Sravan’s Hindu calendar month (Jul / Aug). The fair is popularly known as Re Jatar Bahadur Singh. There is also another fair that takes place every year in the celebration on 14 May on birthday of Hidimba Devi.
